Don't Hate Me Because I'm Digital

These Miss Digital World entries point to a wave of the future--when digital agents appear as real as your next door neighbor. So who would you vote for and what do think about simulations in general?

I think simulations are great, and I’m looking forward to the day when we can’t tell the difference between digital and biological individuals. I’d even like to have my own digital extension to send holiday cheers or greet people when they come to my website. You could almost argue that the answering machine was the primitive simulation, allowing people to respond to your voice when you weren’t around.

Oh, and my vote goes for Ilana!

Does the Miss Universe pageant kill the self esteem of women who judge themselves less beautiful? Does the Miss America contest kill the self esteem of women who consider themselves less talented? Does the National Spelling Bee kill the self esteem of less talented spellers? I'm sure they do for some but for others they serve as inspiration for self improvement. Inspiration is in the mind of the beholder as beauty is in his eye.
